ADA Compliance
Ensuring Equal Access
Accessibility for the disabled community is a priority at San José State University.
We actively engage in reviewing campus infrastructure, programs, and services in compliance the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA); the Americans with Disabilities Amendments Act (ADAAA) of 2008; Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973; and California Government Code 11135 of 2003, which applies Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act to the CSU.
To maintain a safe and accessible environment, we build partnerships and collaborations with various campus entities such as Academic Affairs, University Personnel, Facilities Development & Operations, University Parking Services and many other campus entities to ensure access and compliance.
We are committed to reviewing a wide range of compliance issues but do not engage in complaint review. Concerns of alleged discrimination may be presented to the Office for Equal Opportunity in University Personnel . Disputes between faculty and students over accommodations recommended by the AEC can be presented to a counselor at the AEC or the Director for presentation to the Accommodations Review Board (ARB). Grade disputes and similar issues should be presented to the University Ombudsperson.
To report a physical access barrier, please contact University Personnel and/or the Accessible Education Center, or you may use the Accessibility Concern Report Form.
