Annual R&I Faculty Funding Opportunities
SJSU RSCA Seed Grant Program
Partially funded by the CSU Chancellor's Office, in support of all Unit 3 Faculty,
this initial seed grant is to support faculty starting new RSCA projects with no previous
funding.

Teaming Award
Intended to build the capacity of SJSU faculty to design and conduct RSCA collaboratively
with faculty both at SJSU and/or external institutions.

SJSU RSCA Equipment Grant
Designed to provide internal support for RSCA equipment, specifically for equipment
that cannot be funded through external sources such as the NSF Major Research Instrumentation
Program (MRI) or entirely through other internal SJSU funding sources.

Other R&I Funding Programs
University Grants Academy (UGA) for New Faculty Starting in Fall 2024
The UGA supports faculty members from across the SJSU campus through the process of
writing a significant external grant proposal to fund their RSCA. Faculty can apply
to the spring session or a compacted ten-week session in the summer.

University Grants Academy Research Clusters (UGA)
The UGA Research Clusters (UGA RC) program will enable a group of faculty members
to write and plan much larger grants as a team during Spring 2024 and will directly
reflect SJSU’s research strengths and priorities, and topics of national and global
importance.

To provide a mechanism of internal support for RSCA that requires a rapid turnaround
due to special circumstances.

2024-25 STEM-NET Faculty Interdisciplinary Collaborative Research SEED Grant Program
To support and encourage the development of interdisciplinary research and scholarship
collaborations by faculty members in STEM and the social sciences, humanities, and
arts.
