Survey on Chancellor Office Implementation of AB 1460
Sent: October 15, 2020
Dear Campus Community,
We are asking for your feedback on proposed revisions to the Executive Order on CSU
General Education Breadth (formerly EO 1100-Revised) found here.
As part of the process of campus consultation, the Chancellor’s Office has tasked
each campus to collect feedback and to share suggestions that may not yet have been
voiced on how best to implement the new 3-unit ethnic studies course requirement in
line with Assembly Bill 1460.
The revisions include two main changes:
- Reduction of Area D from 12 to 9 units total (6 lower division, and 3 upper division). Note that upper division Area D is called Area S at SJSU.
- Addition of Area F (Ethnic Studies)
By 12 PM, Wednesday October 28th, please take a few minutes to complete a brief survey to provide your perspectives
on the proposed changes outlined in this draft Executive Order. We hope to hear from
faculty and students so that as many SJSU perspectives as possible are represented
in consideration of these changes. Click here to enter the feedback form. We will collect your responses, summarize the findings,
and send it to the Chancellor’s Office by the required deadline of November 2nd.
You may also provide feedback directly as a Microsoft Word document to the Chancellor’s
Office at esfeedback@calstate.edu.
As usual, thank you for all you do for SJSU. We have an amazing community!
Sincerely,
Vincent J. Del Casino, Jr., Provost and Senior Vice President
Ravisha Mathur, Chair, SJSU Academic Senate
Zobeida Delgadillo, President and CEO, Associated Students
Walt Jacobs, Special Assistant to the Provost on Racial Equity Initiatives
Dean, College of Social Sciences
