Announcing New Senior Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Andrew Wright will be joining San José State University as the new Senior Associate Vice President for Enrollment Management (EM) starting July 8, 2024. Until that time, I will continue direct oversight of our EM team. As you may be aware, Mr. Wright was a candidate who visited campus as part of the search that closed in mid-fall 2023 and he was still available and very interested in the position!

Andrew brings a wealth of expertise from both public and private sectors, including esteemed institutions such as Cal State Long Beach and Cal State Fullerton, Andrew has demonstrated exceptional proficiency in orchestrating the strategic planning and execution of enrollment initiatives for diverse student populations. With a distinguished tenure spanning over 19 years in higher education, Andrew has demonstrated unwavering dedication to his students while adhering to system-wide, state, and federal regulations governing policies and procedures. Throughout his career, Andrew has consistently exceeded enrollment targets while leading a dynamic team and managing a substantial fiscal portfolio.

Noteworthy achievements include the formulation of comprehensive enrollment management policies and strategies, cultivation of collaborative alliances across campuses, and the implementation of cutting-edge technological solutions to augment the enrollment process, thereby streamlining the student experience. Grounded in an unwavering commitment to principles of equity, inclusivity, and student-centricity, Andrew is poised to take the helm, ensuring that enrollment management endeavors at San José State University are intricately aligned with the institution's overarching mission and values. Andrew eagerly anticipates employing his style of transformative leadership to advance strategic enrollment strategies, fostering a culture of accessibility and achievement for all students within our esteemed community.

I was very pleased when Mr. Wright was still available and eager to join SJSU. He brings an unbelievable depth of experience and enthusiasm to the role! And, as the enrollment market becomes even more competitive, we will need to be responsive to that competition by building out an enrollment strategy that is comprehensive and supportive of the amazing degree programs across our comprehensive institution. Andrew is the right person to lead us through this transition at this time.
