About Sarah Caligiuri:
Sarah Caligiuri is an enrolled member of the Yomba Shoshone Tribe. Sarah has been honored to be a member of several tribal and non-tribal communities during her career in both urban and rural areas. Sarah has engaged in community work for the last 25 years within environmental, social, educational, and reproductive justice movements. She works in partnership with tribal governments, tribal organizations, federal, state, and county government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Sarah's work is rooted in protecting Mother Earth through community service, social justice, and education.
Sarah has a Master of Jurisprudence in Indian Law from the University of Tulsa School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Native American Studies from Cal Poly Humboldt University. She is currently in an educational studies Ph.D. program at Lesley University. Sarah has worked in Tribal Administration as an Environmental Director, Tribal Council appointed liaison, Grant Writer, Office Manager, and Youth Educator. For the last 10 years, she has been consulting with Indian Tribes, government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Her skills range and include: project management and restructuring, collegiate-level lecturing, curriculum building, diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging & justice (DEIBJ), coalition formation, committee organizing, writing administration policies, grant writing and management, community organizing, healthcare services, and ethnobotanical studies.
Sarah is the CEO and Co-Founder of Native Americans for Restorative Stewardship LLC (NARS). She is a faculty member at San Jose State University and lectures on Federal Indian Law and Race, Gender, Inequality, and the Law. She is also on the Board of Directors of Noowuh Knowledge Center, a Western Shoshone cultural non-profit organization.
