Injury and Illness Prevention Program

An effective Injury and Illness Prevention Program determines what hazards exist in the workplace, how to correct hazards that may occur and what steps to take to prevent them from reocurring.

The Director of Environmental Health and Safety is responsible for the development, implementation and maintenance of the program.

The Injury and Illness Prevention Program is comprised of the following elements:

  1. Designation of the person(s) with authority and responsibility for implementing the IIPP;
  2. Full employees compliance with safe and healthy work practices;
  3. Employee communication on matters relating to occupational safety and health;
  4. Work place hazard identification and scheduled, periodic inspections to identify unsafe conditions and work practices;
  5. Procedures to investigate occupational injury or occupational illness;
  6. Procedures for correcting unsafe or unhealthy conditions, work practices and work procedures in a timely manner based on the severity of the hazard;
  7. Safety training and instruction; and
  8. Program implementation process and maintainenance.
