Classrooms Access

Facilities Development & Operations (FD&O) unlocks only University Lecture Rooms (ULRs) daily for scheduled classes as follows: 

• Mondays-Fridays (7 a.m.-10:30 p.m.)
• Saturdays, only in building where classes are scheduled (8 a.m.-7 p.m.)

Instructors teaching in College Managed Lecture Rooms (CLECs) will receive access through a key request process (TBD - launch in July 2024). 

Building access days/hours vary based on access groups and building purpose, and can be accessed at sjsu.edu/buildingaccess. Employees requiring additional building access outside of the listed days/hours must develop a personalized access plan their college. 

What if my building, ULR or CLEC is locked during the above hours?

• Monday-Friday (8 a.m.-5 p.m.): Call (408) 924-1990. FD&O Customer Service will dispatch a staff member to open any locked URL or CLEC. After speaking to a representative, please allow up to ten minutes for a respons.  
• Monday-Friday (5 a.m.-8 p.m.) & Saturdays: Call (408) 924-2222 and University Police dispatchers will contact FD&O managers, who will work to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

Will FD&O unlock College Managed Teaching Laboratories? 

No. In order to ensure the safety of our community and any specialized equipment, teaching laboratories access is the responsibility of the college or its assigned departments. Colleges or their assigned departments are responsible for providing guidelines to instructors assigned to teach in these laboratories. 

Should instructors encounter a locked laboratory, they should contact their college or assigned department representatives. As a reminder, FD&O does not unlock any laboratories. They will forward any calls to the appropriate college or assigned department.
