Academic Building

Building access days/hours vary and employees requiring additional room access within academic buildings can request such using the FD&O Key/Card Access Form [pdf]. 

University Lecture Rooms

Should you encounter a University Lecture Room [pdf] (ULR), or campus building that is locked, departments and/or instructors are advised to contact one of the following campus service groups for assistance:

• During regular business hours (Monday through Friday, between 8:00 am to 5:00 pm), call FD&O’s Customer Service Team at (408) 924-1990. If unable to be resolved remotely, the Customer Service Team will dispatch a staff member to open any locked ULR. Note: It could take up to ten minutes for staff to arrive on site to unlock a room.
• Outside of regular business hours (Monday through Friday, between 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. or anytime Saturdays and Sundays), call the University Police Department (UPD) at (408) 924-2222. UPD dispatchers will contact the FD&O manager assigned to after hours on call duty who will work to resolve these issues as quickly as possible.

College Managed Lecture Rooms and Teaching Laboratories

In order to ensure the safety of our community and any specialized equipment, teaching laboratory access is the responsibility of the college or its assigned departments. Colleges or their assigned departments are responsible for providing guidelines to instructors assigned to teach in these laboratories. 

Should instructors encounter a locked college managed lecture room or teaching laboratory, they should contact the college or assigned department representatives. Questions may be emailed to workcontrol@sjsu.edu or abso@sjsu.edu.
