Class Meetings Times/Days
While there are necessary exceptions, class meeting times are expected to adhere to the standard meeting patterns per University Policies F98-4 [pdf] and S11-2 [pdf].
- Standard meeting times begin at 7:30 am, but may start as early as 6:30 or 7:00 am.
- If a department chooses to offer 3-unit classes on a MW-TR schedule, its college must offer at least one (1) 3-unit Friday class for every ten (10) 3-unit classes offered on MW-TR. These Friday classes should be offered in 165-minute blocks.
- One-day-a-week classes (normally 165-minutes) cannot begin before 2:45 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, or Thursdays.
- Classes with 1, 2, 4, or 5 units should observe start times indicated on the standard time grid (shown under column 1 below).

Policy Exceptions
One-day a week classes are recommend to be scheduled for 165-minutes to allow for a 15-minute break in the middle of the meeting time (instead of 150-minutes).
Friday only classes suggested start times are 9:30 am, 10:00 am, 12:30 pm, 1:00 pm, 3:30 pm or later to avoid final exam conflicts for rooms, faculty, and/or students.
Where the standard class meeting times are not appropriate, classes should still be scheduled back-to-back using the following standard start and end times, where possible, and allow for a 15-minute transition time between classes.
