Discrimination, Harassment and Retaliation Prevention
Research Foundation is an equal opportunity employer and, in accordance with applicable law, is committed to providing a work environment that is free of unlawful discrimination, harassment, and retaliation for its employees, applicants, individuals providing services in the workplace pursuant to a contract, unpaid interns, volunteers, and others involved in its operations. The Research Foundation’s Discrimination, Harassment, and Retaliation Prevention Policy [pdf] further these goals by providing information about unlawful discrimination, harassment, retaliation, Title IX violations (sexual misconduct, dating, and domestic violence, and stalking) and describes the procedure for addressing such conduct by employees and third parties.
If you or someone you know has experienced discrimination, harassment, or retaliation based on a protected status including age, disability, gender, gender identity, gender expression, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, nationality, race or ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, and veteran or military status, we encourage you to file a report or contact Human Resources for assistance. Sex-based discrimination and harassment includes sexual harassment, sexual misconduct, sexual exploitation, dating violence, domestic violence, stalking, and pregnancy and parenting discrimination. An employee, intern, volunteer, or student may contact Human Resources directly and is not required to complain first to his or her supervisor. Supervisors and managers who receive complaints of misconduct must immediately report such complaints to Human Resources. The Research Foundation HR can be reached at (408) 924-1409, or via email at research-foundation-compliance@sjsu.edu.
For more details, you can refer to the Complaint Procedure. The Complaint Form [pdf] may be used to report any concerns or complaints concerning alleged discrimination or harassment involving Research Foundation employees, including staff, students, or volunteers, or any such incidents involving anyone in Research Foundation programs. SJSU students and employees also can reach out to the Office for Title IX and Equal Opportunity to file a complaint.
