Where do you want to live? There are many different housing options for students ranging from dormitories to apartment-style living and communal housing. Start your search early to find the right place for you.

Housing Options

University Housing

SJSU offers a range of options from traditional and suite-style housing to apartment-style living on campus. On-campus housing is very popular and fills up very quickly. Applications for the 2024-2025 academic year are now open.

International House

Have you considered living in on-campus housing at the International House? The International House (I-House) is home to U.S. and international students who are freshman through graduate students. As an SJSU housing option, the I-House community provides a diverse and welcoming intercultural living environment.

Off-Campus Housing

On-line websites are helpful in locating rentals. NEVER send money ahead of time to reserve an apartment or room! Check out the local neighborhoods near SJSU

Homestay

Get the full study abroad experience by living with an American family and immersing yourself in American culture. International Student Placements (ISP) is a full-service organization that places students in homes of local residents. If interested, apply here.

Temporary Housing

If you plan to look for a place to live after your arrival in San José and need a place to stay, AirBnB is a popular site for temporary stays. A list of local hotels is found at http://www.sanjose.org/hotels Online reservations often give special rates but ask about discounts for SJSU students.
