ACADEMIC TEACHING
San Jose State University, 1983 to present, professor. Graduate courses taught: media and social issues; mass communication theory, communication law and public policy, literature of mass communication, mass media and society in China, and research methods. Undergraduate courses taught: media law and ethics, global mass communications, and research on social media. Developed and taught two MUSE freshman seminars: Free press or censorship in times of war: (1) Afghanistan and (2) Iraq. Developed and co-taught SJSU study abroad course in Beijing, news media, advertising, and propaganda in China.
