Public Programming Opportunities

The College of Humanities and Arts is committed to leveraging the power of the arts and humanities to ask the most important questions of our time. Our investment in integrated programming that connects our curriculum inside the classroom with our performances, art exhibits, literary readings, and other events is a primary way we accomplish this. Our Artistic Excellence Programming Grants (AEPG) extend this further through College themes that highlight these important questions, and allow our students to engage a topic like Racial Equity within a classroom setting AND through artistic events created by our own faculty and students. 

This year, we're creating opportunities for community engagement through our Geography of Art series of activities and events in the San José area to build out the geography of the arts by letting people engage, stroll, and geographically connect with the place where they live, particularly in terms of the arts. In addition, we're offering QuickBites, a new initiative sponsored by H&A in Action, H&A in San Jose, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library to bring you live streamed, informal conversations about the most urgent news of the moment. At each QuickBite forum, SJSU faculty will dive into an informal conversation about a specific news article, post, or video. Begun as a forum to highlight the expertise and public engagement of faculty from the College of Humanities & the Arts, QuickBites invites faculty from all around SJSU to turn their expertise into accessible stories about important aspects of our society. Free and open to the public, we welcome registrants to submit questions in advance.
