Since Fall 2002, the Charles W. Davidson College of Engineering has hosted the Silicon Valley Leaders Symposium (SVLS). The Symposium hosts industry and technology leaders to talk about business and technology trends. It also features prominent leaders who discuss broader societal and political issues that shape our life and society. SVLS always meets on Thursdays.

Stephen Caines

Stephen Caines serves as the Chief Innovation Officer and Budget Director for the City of San José, as well as Senior Advisor to Mayor Matt Mahan. With a Juris Doctorate from the University of Miami School of Law, concentrating on the Business of Innovation, Law & Technology, he leads the Mayor’s Office of Technology and Innovation, fostering public-private partnerships and enhancing city services through pilot programs. Previously, he completed a fellowship at CodeX – The Stanford Center for Legal Informatics, focusing on facial recognition and surveillance, and contributed to “The Oxford Handbook of AI Governance.”
