Academic Notice

Undergraduate students are placed on academic notice if, at any time, their SJSU cumulative GPA falls below 2.0. The CoSS SSC's mission is to provide support and guidance to students on academic notice to help them return to good academic standing.

Students on academic notice will be placed in one of these three categories at the end of the semester:

1. Good Academic Standing

The student has earned at least a 2.0 semester GPA, which is high enough to bring the SJSU cumulative GPA to 2.0.

2. Continued Academic Notice

The student has earned at least a 2.0 semester GPA, but it is not high enough to bring the SJSU cumulative GPA to 2.0. The student will be notified by a CoSS SSC Advisor with next steps.

3. Disqualification

The student has earned below a 2.0 semester GPA (which will also bring the cumulative GPA down). The student will be notified by a CoSS SSC Advisor to discuss next steps to become reinstated.

If you are on Continued Academic Notice, an Advisor will contact you to schedule an appointment to discuss how to return to good academic standing.
