Property and Evidence

We are responsible for maintaining, storing and disposing of all property taken into police custody. We carefully safeguard evidence to prevent contamination and insure its evidentiary value in court.  

The proper and timely disposal of property includes:

• Return of property to its rightful owner
• Destruction of items as prescribed by law

Recovering Your Property

Please call in advance and make an appointment before visiting UPD to recover property or evidence in our custody. We are the only unit authorized to release property - and can only do so in conformance with applicable state and federal law. You will need to bring a form of photo identification.

Unclaimed property is periodically auctioned on PropertyRoom.com.
