Applying to the M.A. Program

First Step: All applications to our M.A. program must be submitted via Cal State Apply. 

N.B. The online application contains a section for a “statement of purpose.” This statement should include an account of the applicant's philosophical background, philosophical interests, and reasons for pursuing graduate study in philosophy.

Second Step: All applications that meet official CSU requirements for graduate studies (good academic standing at your last institution, undergraduate degree granted, 2.5. minimum GPA, etc.) will be transferred to our department. 

Applicants will then receive an email from one of our M.A.’s co-advisors asking them to submit a writing sample via email and have two letters of recommendation directly sent to them via email.

Third Step: An admissions decision will be made, and we will notify all applicants of the outcome via email.
