Career Planning
As rewarding as a life of the mind can be, it’s also good to be employable. Studying philosophy can help!
Philosophy cultivates skills that employers value [pdf] — reading skills, writing skills, strengths in research and analysis, and problem-solving across a number of domains.
After graduation, SJSU philosophy majors commonly work in education, entrepreneurship, and media and communication, for employers that include Apple, Stanford University, and Google. Some of our graduates pursue graduate studies in Philosophy or related disciplines. Others go to law school.
