Instructions for International Applicants
Defined as applicants who are applying from their home country, already in the US on an F1 visa, have a B visa and will need to change to F1, or have a J1 visa.
Step 1:

Complete the international application online at https://www.calstate.edu/apply
When selecting your intended program, we recommend applying a filter by campus for "San Jose State." Within the search results, programs are categorized under "Extension" or "Graduate" per below:
- Early Career MBA: San Jose Graduate > Business Administration (Early Career MBA)
- MBA for Professionals: San Jose Extension > Business Administration (MBA for Professionals - Special Session)
- MSAA: San Jose Graduate > Accounting & Analytics
- MSFA: San Jose Graduate > Financial Analytics
- MST: San Jose Extension > Taxation (Special Session)
You will receive an important email from Graduate Admissions (GAPE) in 7-10 business days after application submission which will include your nine digit San Jose State ID and instructions on how to set up your MySJSU account and access your "to-do" list, which outlines university-required documents to complete your application.
If you do not receive your ID within this time period, contact grad-admissions@sjsu.edu. Include your application (CAS) ID, full name, birth date, and mailing address for identity verification purposes.
Step 2:
Submit your official transcripts to Graduate Admissions (GAPE)
For coursework or degrees completed in the US or Canada
Electronic transcripts should be sent to etranscript@sjsu.edu directly from your school(s).
Or
Official transcripts (in sealed envelopes) can be mailed to Graduate Admissions. Copies or opened transcripts are NOT accepted. Submit one transcript from ALL higher education institutions attended, even if you did not earn a degree.

For coursework or degrees completed internationally
Graduate Admissions requires that all applicants with coursework or degree(s) completed
outside of the US, US Territories & Canada submit their transcripts for evaluation
by WES (World Education Services) to determine US equivalency. Offical transcripts must be requested from your institution(s)
and be sent directly to WES for evaluation. Once the evaluation is completed, SJSU
must receive it directly from WES. A complete WES evaluation of all international
coursework is required.
Check your MySJSU account frequently to review the items on your "to-do" list and to monitor the status of your application. Your MySJSU account is the first and best place for information on your application status with Graduate Admissions. SJSU communicates almost entirely by messages with important and timely notices on admission, fees, financial aid, testing, transcript information, and deadlines.
In addition to transcript evaluation, Graduate Admissions will place additional requirements on your "to-do" list, including the following:
- Copy of your passport and visa
- TOEFL or IELTS or Academic PTE (scores within the prior 2 years)
- Bank letter or statement
- Declaration of Finance (The Declaration must reflect at least the amounts below):
