Panhellenic Council (PHC)
Panhellenic Council (PHC) is the governing body of social women's sororities at San José State University. National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) is comprised of 26 inter/national organizations, and at SJSU we have 6 thriving chapters. We are proud to provide opportunities for leadership, growth, academic success and community involvement. The strengthening of individuality and women's empowerment is the tenet by which we choose to live by. We hope to instill intellectual, social and personal growth in every woman that chooses to become a part of our community.

Panhellenic Primary Recruitment will take place in the Student Union Ballrooms on person Friday, September 13 - Sunday, September 15, 2024 with Bid Day on Monday, September 16, 2024. To participate, you must complete the ICS Recruitment Registration.

Upcoming In-Person Recruitment Mixers
PHC Recruitment Mixers gives the attendees the opportunity to speak to current members of each of these six sororities. You'll learn more about each organization, how to join, and the expectations to membership for each sorority. Each mixer will take place in the Student Union Theater.

- Continuous Open Bidding (COB)

Continuous Open Bidding (COB) is an informal recruitment process that some Panhellenic sororities use to recruit new members after primary recruitment and during the Spring semester.
Interested students must complete this interest and eligibility form to ensure eligibility.

- Alpha Omicron Pi

Alpha Omicron Pi Women’s Fraternity was founded on friendship in 1897 by four young women at Barnard College of Columbia, University in New York City. Women of Alpha Omicron Pi are inspired to promote the values of simplicity, integrity, tolerance, generosity, personal dignity, and love. The Delta Sigma Chapter at SJSU was founded in 1948, and sisters reside in the original chapter house located just steps away from campus. Sisters encourage one another to always exceed expectations, and are committed to excellence in scholarship, leadership, community service, and philanthropic endeavors.

- Alpha Phi

Alpha Phi Women’s Fraternity is a sisterhood comprised of women who support one another in lifelong achievements. Alpha Phi enhances and promotes each member's development and learning by focusing on sisterhood, service, scholarship, leadership, loyalty and character development. The first Alpha Phi chapter was founded at Syracuse University in 1872 in New York with a motto of “Union hand in hand”. The Beta Psi Chapter was later established at SJSU in 1948.

- Alpha Xi Delta

In 1893, ten women at Lombard College in Galesburg, Illinois, shared a vision and a dream of a national organization dedicated to the personal growth of women. Their dream became Alpha Xi Delta, one of the oldest women’s sororities in the United States. The ideals envisioned by the founders have remained constant throughout the years, inspiring each member to pursue individual excellence. These ideals include sisterhood, leadership, knowledge and service to communities. In 2010, the Iota Omicron Chapter of Alpha Xi Delta was founded at SJSU.

- Delta Gamma

Delta Gamma Women’s Fraternity was founded in 1873 in Oxford, Mississippi at the Lewis School for Girls by three young women, who found a common bond of friendship and loyalty. Delta Gamma offers to women of all ages a rich heritage; continuity based on sound and tested principles of personal integrity, personal responsibility and intellectual honesty. The Gamma Eta Chapter at SJSU was founded in 1948, and the sisters strive to follow Delta Gamma’s motto to, "Do Good."

Delta Zeta is an international college sorority that was founded on October 24, 1902, at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. The women of Delta Zeta share a common purpose of making life fuller, more meaningful, and more rewarding. The Gamma Lambda Chapter of Delta Zeta was founded at SJSU in 1984. Sisters at SJSU are dedicated to enriching their member's college years, campuses, communities and beyond. Here, you will see sisters striving to excel in the areas of academic achievement, philanthropy, community service, campus involvement, spiritual growth, leadership development and social success.

Kappa Delta was founded in 1897 at the State Female Normal School located in Farmville, Virginia. Since their founding at San Jose State University campus on February 4th, 1956, sisters have worked each day to uphold their motto: “Let us strive for that which is honorable, beautiful, and highest.” Kappa Delta inspires its members to reach their potential by offering opportunities for leadership, personal development, academic success and community service, all in the context of true friendship.
