This year Professor Chang Sik Kim and students in his BFA graphic design course worked hard to develop a book featuring student work [pdf] that tells the story of design at SJSU! In this book [pdf] you can see examples of how the Department of Design at SJSU is committed now more than ever to educating, inspiring, and empowering our students and community through the creation of innovative and bold designs. Design is a tool for understanding and developing solutions to today’s challenges including climate change, pandemia, and social justice. In addition to teaching and learning industry specific and professional skills, faculty and students in our design programs are teaching and learning new tools and are having essential conversations that respond to the tests of our time.

These are all examples of design at the front lines. As you read this book [pdf], you will see the challenges we are facing are great, but the opportunities for designers of the future are even greater!
