Exceptions & Petitions

Certain exceptions are made to the SJSU General Education Program and the University Undergraduate Graduation Requirements. The list of exceptions for University Graduation Requirements is included in the Academic Catalog by major. Students in a major with exceptions must consult with their major advisors regarding approved modifications of GE.  

Most exceptions are valid only if the student graduates with the listed degree major, but students may use the University Undergraduate Graduation Requirements Petitions to waive requirements. Be sure to review all of the information for a particular petition and discuss the petition with your major or academic advisor.
