Soci 15 Applied Statistics
Time: TTH 3:00 -4:15 p.m.
Location: Hugh Gillis Hall 122
Description
This class is concerned with the application of statistics to social and behavioral research. We look at both descriptive and inferential statistics. Descriptive statistics involves using frequency tables, graphical displays of data, and measure of central tendency and dispersion. With regards to inferential statistics, we are concerned with generalizing our sample to populations. In other words, how good a fit is our sample to the population. Students are encouraged to take the results of statistical data and explain them in simple sentences using the symbolic language of mathematics.
