Bio
Linda Roper has been teaching for the Mathematics Department at San José State University for twenty years. Besides teaching she currently is the coordinator for the workshops in the Mathematics Department. For nine years she served as the Mathematics Coordinator for the Learning Assistance Resource Center. She was the Mathematics Coordinator and/or Instructor for the Summer Bridge Program for twelve years. She has an avid interest of seeing technology become fully integrated in education.
Before coming to San Jose State University, she was trained in Systems Operations and Management at Hewlett Packard and worked in the field for five years at Menlo College when she decided to return to school and study mathematics. By furthering her education she was able to develop a stronger background in mathematics and thus obtain a deeper understanding of technology. Along the way she took several courses in programming, web design and multimedia. Having this background she felt better prepared to use technology in mathematics and education.
She received the Kenneth C. Bradshaw Teaching Award from the Mathematics Department and the Outstanding Staff Award from the Disability Resource Center. She served on the Campus Safety Advisory Committee and the Parking, Traffic, Transit Advisory Committee. She envisions a world in the future where anyone can have free access to knowledge through the web so no one will be left behind.
