- A Life of Opposition: Prudence Crandall and the Saga of Abolition
1999-3000Description: I am writing a cultural biography of white abolitionist educator, Prudence Crandall (1803-1890), who opened a high school for Black women in Connecticut in 1833, over strong opposition from her neighbors. I trace how Crandall continued to develop as an activist, spiritualist, and thinker across the nineteenth century.
- Mary Daly Reader
