Bio
Professor Desalvo graduated with a PhD from the University of Virginia in 1995. Specialized in Francophone literatures, he has published two scholarly books, numerous articles and book chapters on the subject, namely on the work of Antonine Maillet and Claude LeBouthillier. He also recently co-authored a second-year French language grammar textbook: En Super Forme (2018). He has taught French at Saint John's University, Piedmont Virginia Community College, the University of Virginia and the Monterey Institute of International Studies. His experience also includes teaching French and English in Taichung, Taiwan. He is presently Professor of French at SJSU, specializing in Francophone culture and civilization. He teaches a wide variety of online undergraduate language courses on French and Francophone cultures and literatures. He serves as the Coordinator of the French B.A. Program and supervisor of the lecturers in French. He is also the Faculty Advisor to the Cercle Français (French Club).
