EDSE 102 Speech and Language Acquisition for the Normal and Exceptional Individual adapted to teach on the World Wide Web. The course includes a Service Learning Component Fall 2002.

Developmental levels of speech, language, and communicative competence. Dialectal variations. Second language acquisition. Communication Disorders. Language assessment and development.

 

EDSE 107 Teaching Students with Mild to Severe Disabilities

Broad aspects of learning, emotional and management of student with mild/moderate and severe disabilities including specific learning characteristics, assessment and individual programming.

 

EDSP 110  Resources for Human Communication Disorders

Scope of human communication disorders and public attitudes affecting educational, sociological, psychological, and vocational opportunities of the communication disordered. Management resources for the communication handicapped.

 

EDSE 215 Assessment and Evaluation of Individuals with Mild-Moderate Disabilities

Formal and non-formal evaluation methods to assess student with mild/moderate disabilities. Includes standardized and alternative assessment, tools and practices, case studies, report development, and a comprehensive understanding of related research.

 

EDSE 217 A and B Supervision-Mild-Moderate Disabilities

Supervised teaching experience in educational setting for students with mild to moderate disabilities. Concurrent seminar.

 

EDSE 228  Collaboration and Consultation in Special Education

Competencies required for collaboration, consultation and counseling with parents, professionals and students with special needs.

 

 

 

EDSP 124 Assessment in Speech Pathology

Principles and practices of assessment of language, speech and communication disorders. Clinical procedures and theory in diagnostic evaluations.

 

 

EDSP 125 Language Disorders

Etiology and remediation of deviant and disordered language.

 

 

EDSP 169 Supervision of Speech and Language Pathologists in the Schools.

Supervised teaching in speech pathology and audiology. Two hundred clock hours minimum requirement for credential as speech, language and hearing specialist.

 

EDSP 177 Practicum in Speech Pathology

Supervised clinical experience with children and adults who have speech and language disorders.

 

EDSP 262 Speech and Language Development in a Cross-Cultural Society

Communication development and disorders in bilingual clients. Emphasis on the assessment of such disorders to the bilingual population.

 

 

EDSP 263 Issues in Bilingual/Cross-Cultural Assessment

Follow-up to EDSP 262 which explores the practical issues in bilingual assessment, including the utilization of assessment results, informal assessment, legal aspects, program planning and family counseling.

 

 

EDSP-276 Seminar in Advanced Assessment

Supervised clinical experience in assessment of a variety of speech/language disorders. Laboratory and classroom experience required.
