Comment re: Chapter 3: We are skipping Chap 3 (Infectious Diseases). If you are interested in
studying infectious disease epidemiology, two options come to mind: (1) Dr. G. will be
giving a lecture called "Intro to
Infectious Disease Epi" to the Bay Area Emergency Managers on 4/28/05
starting at 6pm (contact him for information). (2) Chapter 3 is covered in HS161. You
may sit in on this section of the class or you may want to be a student teaching
assistant when we teach this to the undergraduates.

Update
- Pair off so you can discuss the case study with a partner
- The case study starts on p. 98 in the text
- We will begin the updated case study in class
- The case study has been modified to update the sensitivity and specificity
of the EIA and WB tests as described in 4.13
- Answer questions 1 - 10 with the new assumptions provided in 4.13
- We can discuss the case study on the WebCT discussion board
- Hand in your answers next week
