Academic Policies and Guidelines

B. Gerstman

Time commitment

My courses require discipline and a significant investment in time.

Ask questions: It is best to clear up points by of confusion by asking questions sooner rather than later; please ask questions when they arise. In addition to being available during class, I can be reached during office hours and via Email.

Exams and assignments: Late assignments will not be accepted once an answer key has been distributed or posted. Quizzes and exams must be taken at their regularly scheduled times with your section. Switching sections is not acceptable. Make-up exams will be considered only when reasons are clearly explained and documented in writing with support from acceptable parties (e.g., attending physicians, legal papers).

Withdrawal, ethics, disciplinary action, etc: See SJSU catalogue.

Resolution of exam questions: On midterms, quizzes, and graded homework assignments, all questions about grades must be raised in writing within a week of the exam's return. The final exam will be kept on file one month into the subsequent semester. If you'd like to view your final exam, you may do so during office hours.
